Sunday, 14th December 2014, I wrote this show don't tell story about Christmas. I hope you like it. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Beams of gold shot through the windows. Kids slightly opening their eyes. Jumping out of bed before anyone is awake. A face of excitement running towards the lounge. Leaping over each other, calling out “wake up wake up wake up, IT’S CHRISTMAS!!! Parents strolled slowly into the lounge. “ OK you open yours first then you open your one OK” said a gentle voice. We will have a feed after we all open one or two.

PURPOSE to describe
WALT show not tell in our writing

This is my show don't tell. I hope you like it!!!

Not a single cloud in the bright blue sky. Racing across the hot burning sand. Standing still like  a statue, slowly looking down with our mouths wide open ready. We dived in the cold huge waves zooming towards us. We swam fast. We swam slow. We held our breath longer and longer. Splash, splash, splash, “hey OH Im gonna get you”. A huge laugh blurted out of our mouths with a scream in the background. She turns as fast as she can. She dives while the giant waves crash on top of her. “ Sea weed…. Really.” “Kai’s ready” yelled a squeaking voice over the booming waves. We ran and ran as fast as we could to get there first. We were wondering what we were going to have….

PURPOSE to describe
WALT show not tell in our writing

WILF
I will begin by describing what the characters body felt like.
I will describe what they were thinking
I will leave the audience hanging

His mouth went purple like a fresh grape, his skin was turning pale. His heart was frozen, his hands were rubbing against his arms, his teeth started to clatter, he started to shiver. His hands were quivering. He was wondering where he could get warm….

Can you guess what emotion he or she is having?

WALT: Write for an audience

Last Friday it was room fives assembly. Some of the students wrote a story or a speech. When I was up to say my speech, I was so terrified that I would say something wrong. But, even though I was so scared I did it because I could. After I finished I was really happy because I have never talked in front of the whole school reading my work. It was fun even if I was scared.

What is the first and most important thing to help us live? Oxygen. What makes oxygen? Trees. What is paper made out of? Trees. What do we use paper for? Homework... Kia Ora, my name is Kirihiria and I'm here to tell you that we should have no homework. None! Nothing. I'm going to tell you three great reasons why we should have no homework.

Firstly, some of us have no time to do our homework. It’s always in the way of my family. Its like a road block! We are always out and about. In my family we have something planned every day. So now that's reason number 1 why we should have no homework.

Secondly,we have to do the same thing over and over again. Like one day you do something and then the next day you have to do the same thing over again. Then you would think that homework is boring. This is another reason why  I think that we should have no homework.

Thirdly, I get yelled at if I don’t do my homework. Usually I will have some homework and then when I finish it before my Mum realises  that I had homework, she tell’s me to do it all over again. That's the same as my second reason. This is my final reason why I think that we should have no homework.

Why should we have no homework? Because, 1: We have no time. 2: We have to do the same thing over again. And 3:We get yelled at. These are the three great reasons why I think we should have no homework.

One more thing. Remember at the start of my speech I talked about how oxygen comes from trees… If we chop down all our trees to make books for homework what am I and you going to breathe?

I hope you have a lovely weekend. Thank you for being a patient audience. Thank you for  listening to my speech.

My Speech

This is my speech. I think I did well on the reasons about my speech. Next time I think I should try harder to convince my audience.

Bla, bla, bla!!! I hate homework!!! Kia Ora, my name is Kirihiria and I'm here to tell you that homework should, I mean should have no homework. None! Nothing. I'm going to tell you three great reasons why we should have no homework.
Firstly, some of us have nooo time to do our homework. It’s always in the way in my family. We are always out and about. In my family we have something planned every day. So now you should know about 1 reason why we should have no homework.
Secondly, we have to do the same thing over and over again. Like one day you do something and then the next day you have to do the same thing over again. Then you would think that homework is boring. This is another reason why I think that we should have no homework.
Thirdly, I get yelled at if I don’t do my homework. Usually I will have some homework and then when I finished before your Mum knew that I had homework she tell’s me to do it all over again like on my second reason. This is your final reason why I think that we should have no homework. Now I have told you my three reasons.
Now I'm up to my conclusion. Why should we have no homework? Because, 1: We have no time. 2: We have to do the same thing over again. And 3:We get yelled at. These are the three great reasons why I think we should have no homework. I hope you have a lovely day. Thank you for listening to my speech.
